The Steel Guitar Shopper is a family-operated online store serving steel guitar players and enthusiasts.
The Steel Guitar Shopper was founded by Bobby Lee, creator of the Steel Guitar Forum and a lifelong advocate for the steel guitar community.
What began as a way to support the growing Steel Guitar Forum community evolved into a trusted online source for steel guitar strings, music, instruction, picks, accessories, and specialty items requested by players.
Today, The Steel Guitar Shopper continues under family care, with a commitment to preserving Bobby Lee’s legacy while providing thoughtful service to steel guitar players around the world.
How It Began
Bobby Lee launched the Steel Guitar Forum in the 1990s as a labor of love. As the community grew, so did the cost of supporting it. To help keep the Forum going, he expanded the project into a mail-order business offering steel guitar strings, courses, music, and accessories. In time, those products moved to a dedicated eCommerce website: The Steel Guitar Shopper.

“When I started The Steel Guitar Forum as a hobby in December of 1996, I never thought that it would grow so big, so fast. In two explosive years it reached the point where I could no longer afford to support it on my own.”
“To keep it going, I turned the Forum into a ‘dot com’ mail order business, selling music CDs, courses, steel guitar strings and accessories.”
